Questions and Answers

Our Policies

Punctuality:

At Spargo, A Place for Men, delivering our services to our clients at the appointed time is a priority. We are proud to say that we are seldom late. If you arrive late, it requires us to delete part of your expected service in order to keep on schedule for all of our clients. If you are late or unable to keep your appointment, we greatly appreciate a call to cancel as soon as possible. We keep a waiting list and can fill your cancellation with enough time. Thank you for your consideration.

Cancellation Policy:

We do not require a credit card unless you are booking multiple services. When booking a single service, we understand that sometimes it is unavoidable that a last minute meeting or emergency comes up and you cannot keep your appointment but please call to cancel as soon as possible. If you do not call to cancel, we will need a credit card to book future appointments and you will be charged 50% of the service if you do not call to cancel should you miss another appointment. When booking multiple services, a credit card will be required. We do require a 24 hour notice to cancel multiple services to avoid a 50% charge for services booked.

We regret having to implement this policy but know that you understand the importance of running our business professionally. We try to confirm all appointments made two or more days in advance by phone or email for your convenience. This is an excellent time to let us know of any conflicts.

Spa Services:

Most of these services will require that you change into a robe. We recommend that you arrive 5-10 minutes early to change to make sure that you enjoy your entire allotted time. We do have a locker room to store your belongings and a shower for your use.

A Spargo haircut includes haircutting and styling and a shampoo with an extremely relaxing scalp massage. We have been asked if you can just purchase the massage. Unfortunately, the answer is NO. [Back to top]

How long does it take?
The entire service takes 45 minutes from when you sit in the chair and walk to the reception counter to pay. [Back to top]

Why is being on time so important?
We book our haircut appointments every 45 minutes. We do not want to eliminate any part of our service but will do so if it is requested to stay on time. [Back to top]

What if I am ten minutes late?
If you are ten minutes late, we will not be able to give you the in-depth head massage. We need to keep on schedule so that we do not cut into the appointments of other clients. We may need to rebook you so that you will get the entire Spargo experience. [Back to top]

What are the benefits of a manicure?
Today's executive needs to present a well groomed image when negotiating business. Manicured hands are symbolic of success. Manicures also help prevent hang nails. [Back to top]

Yes. We actually have a haircut and manicure special for $10 less the regular price. [Back to top]

Why do pedicures feel so good?
Because you don't have to bend down to clean your feet. In addition, soaking your feet is an ancient tradition. This is the number one service that girlfriends and wives request we make sure their guys are getting. (Back waxes are second.) [Back to top]

What is the difference between hair color and shines?
Hair color is permanent and when your hair grows, you will be able to detect where the color was applied. Shines are semi permanent and wash out with every shampoo making them much more "natural." Both should be done every six weeks. [Back to top]

Spargo is more than just a haircut. We are concerned with the entire man and make sure that he is properly groomed from manicured hands and pampered feet to shaped eyebrows and massaged bodies. It is a full service experience conveniently located in the financial district for the busy executive. [Back to top]

SkinCeuticals which we feel is the best product line available.  It is usually exclusively carried at doctors' offices but we were able to represent the line because of the quality of our clients.

What are the benefits of a facial?
Smoother softer skin, a clearer complexion, and overall brightness, just to name a few. All facials are custom to your skin type. The hour consists of: a cleanse, skin analysis, an exfoliation, a dream-like massage of the face, neck and shoulders, followed by a combination of masks, serums, and moisturizers. [Back to top]

What is the difference between a facial and a mini facial?
The two main differences are time, and length of massage. A facial is an hour while the mini facial is a ½ hour. During the mini facial the amount of time dedicated to the massage has to be cut short to fit all the other steps in. [Back to top]

How often should I have a facial?
Every 4 to 6 weeks is good. Some men like to alternate between the full hour and the mini facial each time. If you are in the sun a lot with a variety of sports activities, we suggest monthly facials to control sun damage. [Back to top]

What is a “peel”? Does Spargo offer any?
A peel is a treatment wherein all the top dead layer of skin cells is sloughed off, revealing refined, smoother, and brighter skin. We offer 3 different peels, Arginine for sensitive skin, Lactic for all skin types, and Salicylic for acneic oily skin types. [Back to top]

My girlfriend wants me to wax my back. What can I expect?
Smooth hairless skin is the result. Within 2 to 4 weeks the hair will start to grow back and within 4 to 6 weeks you will be ready for a follow up wax. The procedure takes ½ hour, and is followed by a soothing cream. There may be a little bit of sensitivity for that day, and exfoliation is not recommended that same day. Exfoliation is a good idea a couple of days after to keep pores open, preventing in-growns. [Back to top]

My stylist suggested a neck wax. What are the benefits?
A neck wax increases the time in between haircuts. In addition, it eliminates shaving that area and possibly slicing your neck open. Waxing clears all the hairs away in an even manner. The neck will be smooth and ready for another wax at the same time as your next haircut. [Back to top]

I am an avid bicyclist and have thought about waxing my legs. What should I expect?
Same as the back waxing procedure. This is the best method to avoid road rash and you need to do it every four to six weeks instead of every other day with shaving. [Back to top]

The sessions incorporate an eclectic blend of Eastern and Western bodywork modalities including: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Lymphatic, Polarity, Shen, Acupressure, Yoga Massage, Reiki and Energy Balancing. Longer sessions are also available. [Back to top]
